Called out today to provide solutions for replacing two prong outlets with 3 prong outlets and adding the proper grounding. Looking at the current boxes containing plugs, the best solution would be to add GFCI breakers to the panel, giving the circuits the proper grounding protection without adding pigtails. The current boxes do not have the proper screw terminals to add grounding pigtails. These breakers can uncover additional issues with the circuit, which may involve additional troubleshooting. We would also replace switches in the rooms that have the two prong outlets. Plugs and switches are recommended to be replaced every 15-20 years. Continuing with today’s visit, I was shown to the electrical panel. I saw that the panel was original to the home, being a QO 20 space panel. This panel is completely full, with no additional circuits being able to be added. The panel is also missing a main breaker, meaning the only way to de-energize the panel is to remove the meter, and that the

Called out today to investigate a circuit that was not working. When I arrived, the customer directed me to the panel, where he had turned the breaker to the affected circuit off as a safety measure. Customer told me about the parts of the house that did not have power, including lights and plugs on each floor, and in the bathrooms. I tested voltage at the breaker and got the correct nominal voltage of 120 volts. This told me that something else on the circuit was causing the power loss. With power being out at the bathrooms, I inferred that a GFCI had tripped. We went to the first floor bathroom, and discovered an older GFCI had tripped. We then went through the rest of the house to check for power, and everything had returned to normal. Due to this GFCI controlling an outside receptacle, the last time it rained, it caused this GFCI to trip. I gave a solution to replace this GFCI, as it was old and difficult to determine when it had tripped, with a new GFCI with an LED indicator light

For this job, I came out to assess home inspection corrections. The overhead service cable is severely damaged, there are improperly wired multi wire branch circuits, no whole home surge protection, no hot/cold/gas bond, oversized breaker for circuit being served along with the meter being inside and the panel not having proper clearance. I estimated (2) solutions, however, I did communicate to the customer that if we went with the Prevent option, that it was possible the inspection could fail and we would have to do the full upgrade. All the work that would be done in the event of that scenario would be taken off the Upgrade option and installed in the new panel. Educated the customer on our in house payment options starting at 12 month 0% deferred interest in addition to our VIP Care Plan. High interest from customer, would like to discuss with spouse the best option for them before proceeding. I will be making a follow up call to address any lingering questions Monday, March 16th.

Today’s visit was for adding power to back patio area. Customer would like a ceiling receptacle, a ceiling, fan, and a quad receptacle on the exterior of the home. We will be pulling power from two separate locations. One for the ceiling fan and ceiling receptacle portion and one from the basement bedroom for the quad to avoid having to run conduit outside. I also spoke with a customer about his panels being much older and lack of surge protection. With all three panels, being completely full, the request for interlock kits is not possible. Customer would have to either put in a transfer switch or install a subpanel to backfeed. Customer opted not to move forward with that work at this time. We will be returning 6/30 to complete the back patio. Extend circuit from in law suite for receptacle and ceiling fan Extend circuit from basement bedroom for quad receptacle Install ceiling fan

After calling several other electricians in the area and being sorely disappointed by their lack of response; I called Haas and Sons Electric. They were amazing. Price quoted is the price that I paid. The work was done in an effective and efficient manner with no mess made. Additionally, they worked with me to make my ideas work, within a budget and without unnecessary mess or damage to my home. Nick was amazing. Personable and friendly; a real asset. I am extremely pleased with their work and the customer service I received. Anyone who lives in Maryland knows customer service is often lacking but, not in this case. I highly recommend Haas and Sons. I will be using them next for some smart switches and replacing my outlets.
