Diagnose A Power Loss or Flicker
If you're dealing with power loss, whether whole, partial house, or one room - or has a light that flickers or fades in and out, we recommend having a local Severn, MD electrician come diagnose and fix the issue. It could be a loose wire, a short, rodent, or other pest damage, or a fixture that is at the end of its life. Whatever the problem, it's important to get it sorted as soon as possible - as there is always the potential for a fire when electricity is involved.
Install Dedicated Circuits - Electrical Contractors Near Severn, MD
A dedicated circuit is a separate electrical circuit that provides power to a specific device or appliance in a building. There are several reasons why someone might need a dedicated circuit, including safety, reliability, electrical code compliance, and improved performance.
Safety is a key factor for having a dedicated circuit, as it helps prevent overloading the electrical circuit and reduces the risk of circuit breaker trips or fires. Additionally, a dedicated circuit provides a separate power source for high-powered devices, ensuring that they have a consistent and reliable power source.
Electrical codes in some cases may require certain appliances or devices to have a dedicated circuit, especially for safety-critical devices such as smoke detectors or electrical panels. This helps to ensure that these devices receive a stable power source and function correctly in case of an emergency. Contact us for smoke detector installation, or a quote on the cost to install dedicated circuits to ensure your home's electrical system is safe and efficient. Call us today to have a quote from an electrician near you in Severn!
Bathroom Fans - New Installations & Repair
Bathroom fans are something many of us take for granted, but they are a crucial element in controlling humidity and moisture in your home. Many older homes have restrooms without a fan - we can install a new fan for you. Newer homes may have a fan, but it's not working efficiently - or it's worn out and noisy. Our relatively humid climate makes bathroom exhaust fans a must. Installing bathroom fans is just one of the electrician services we offer near Severn.
Install or Reinstall Ceiling Fans
On a humid summer day, still air is hot air - and the simple act of installing a ceiling fan in your room can help keep you cool on hot summer days, or help circulate your winter heating more efficiently. We install a lot of ceiling fans in new builds and older homes - call us for more information.
Attic Fan Installation in Severn
We install attic fans to regulate the temperature, humidity, and ventilation in your attic. Attics can get extremely hot in the summer, which can cause damage to your roof, and insulation, and make your entire home warmer in general. Proper attic fan installation can effectively cool down the temperature in your attic and prevent overheating, which can extend the life of your roof and make your entire home more comfortable.

Additionally, good ventilation in the attic can help prevent moisture buildup due to the muggy days we can experience in Severn during June, July, and August. This can lead to mold and mildew growth. By exhausting hot air out of the attic and drawing in cooler air, an attic fan can help regulate the temperature and prevent moisture buildup, leading to a healthier and more energy-efficient home.

Recent Severn Electrical Repair Work
Case Study: Power Loss Resolution
This electrical service call in a local city focused on resolving a persistent power loss issue that had been affecting the homeowner. The customer had reported frequent flickering lights and intermittent power outages, which raised concerns about the reliability of their electrical system.
Upon inspection, our technician discovered a serious issue within the main electrical panel. When the panel cover was removed, it became clear that parts of the panel had suffered extensive damage due to overheating. The breakers had melted, and the bus bar – the core component responsible for distributing electricity – was found to be severely damaged. Using an infrared camera, our team detected dangerous temperatures reaching 300°F at the bus bar and 284°F at the affected breakers.
As we continued to assess the situation, we noted that several breakers had melted, the service cable was showing signs of heat damage, and the bus bar had cracked. This damage, which could have been caused by either the failed breakers or the bus bar, created an unstable electrical environment, leading to the power loss the homeowner had been experiencing.
Given the extent of the damage and the risk of further electrical failure, the homeowner decided to replace the panel on the spot. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of monitoring your electrical system for signs of strain and taking action to prevent long-term power loss or potential hazards.
Case Study: Safe & Reliable Stairwell Lighting Restored
A Delaware homeowner reached out to Haas & Sons Electric after their basement stairwell lights stopped working properly. The 3-way switches at the top and bottom of the stairs weren’t functioning as they should, and the switch at the top was loose due to a broken device ring.
We replaced the faulty 3-way switches and installed a new device ring to properly secure the top switch. Once everything was tightened up and tested, the lighting worked smoothly from both locations again.
Now the homeowner has safe, reliable stair lighting and peace of mind. Even small issues like a bad switch or loose device can create safety concerns, especially on stairs. When something feels off, it’s always best to have it checked by a licensed electrician.

Everything was installed securely, tested for proper operation, and left looking sharp. It’s always a smart move to pair upgrades with a maintenance inspection to ensure your home stays safe, functional, and up to code.

-Arrived onsite and the resident showed me the front outlet he was plugged into when he cut through the cord. I opened that up and found it was definitely damaged but there was no power there. We went and took a look downstairs and looked for gfci’s that could be tripped, and then upstairs in the bathrooms and sure enough there was the tripped gfci. Original to the house and barely hanging on. He also showed us the back 2 outdoor outlets as well that were in poor condition on the same circuit and they also could use a replacment. I wrote up options for today and he went with getting all the outside ones done, adding a gfci on the front porch so it’ll trip there if there’s an issue. We also replaced the hall bath gfci that controls that whole circuit after replacment we tested and verified all outlets were working.

-Arrived onsite and the resident showed me to a kitchen gfci that had tripped, and when they went to replace it there was no power. Tyler and i began chasing the circuit upstairs, followed it downstairs where it jumped around a bit but eventually came down to a workbench outlet that was all burnt up inside, but also the wire was knicked and blown up around the connector. I also preformed my assessment and found a lack of surge protection in the home, and then discussed how we wanted to tackle the issue at hand. We also talked to the resident about out vip membership which as also purchased with todays work. The feed comes upstairs from the outlet, goes to the gfci on the countertop, drops to the stove outlet, and then to one more countertop outlet as well, both countertop ones she replaced. We ended up adding bonding, to the hot water heater because i found that missing in the inspection, replaced the outlet box on the workbench with a new 1900 box and cover, and properly pigtailed the c
The reason for today’s visit was to provide pricing to install three new fixtures in the kitchen, as well as to remove and replace a light fixture in the foyer. The three fixtures in the kitchen will be in new locations installed on new switches near the back door. Will have to install a two gang switch bank next to an existing two gang and tap power out of it. We had to fish the wires up the wall and into the kitchen ceiling. Well, then install two new customer supplied pendant lights over top of the island, as well as one new lighting fixture in the middle of the dinette area for a chandelier.
