The reason for today’s visit was to take a look at a few different devices for repair. When we arrived, we met with Mr. Ben & Mrs. Tracie. Mrs. Tracie showed us to the downstairs bathroom where there was a vanity light that was not working. She asked us to take a look at the motion-detector switch in the basement unfinished area that was connected to the 3-way system for the lighting, which was not working properly. Upstairs, she had asked us to investigate the strobing recessed lights in the master bedroom, and wanted to get a quote for a new bedroom TV receptacle. For the master bedroom recessed lighting, I found that the electronic dimmer installed was not LED compatible and it would need replaced to have the two fixtures function properly. Downstairs, I found that the bathroom vanity light was not installed on its own fixture box (not properly secure), and the wiring on the unfinished side of the wall was exposed and disconnected from the light’s wiring. The reason for today’s visit was to take a look at replacing smart switches with standard 3-way switches. When we arrived, we met with Mr. Matthew, who mentioned that he was selling the home, and had already removed the smart switches and attempted the installation of the replacement 3-ways. We were able to troubleshoot the circuit and re-identify the proper conductors to control the main floor - to - upstairs stairwell lighting. We have re-wired the switchbanks to ensure secure terminations and have re-installed both customer-supplied 3-way switches. The stairwell lighting is now working properly.

Replace GFCI in bathroom and 3 receptacles on circuit customer would like replaced. Called out today to investigate why a bathroom GFCI was not working. When I arrived, I discovered that the bathroom GFCI had failed in the tripped position. GFCI protected 3 receptacles in the basement that were not working due to the GFCI being broken. I discovered that the 3 plugs were also wired incorrectly. Customer requested I replace the GFCI and the 3 plugs, which I completed. Customer also purchased the Haas and Sons VIP Membership.

-Replace two decor switches in the kitchen and bedroom. Called out today to give solutions to replace a broken light switch. Switch was a decora style controlling the kitchen recess lights. Customer also let us know of an intermittently flickering light in the main bedroom leading to the bathroom. We checked the connections at the light, which were secure. Opening up the switch, we discovered loose quick-wired connections. Due to this I recommended replacement of the switch. If the light continued to flicker, it is most likely a connection issue with the actual light fixture itself, necessitating the fixtures replacement. We gave a solution to replace both switches, which the customer agreed to.

The reason for today’s visit was to take a look at a kitchen light fixture that had been burning through bulbs. When we arrived, we met with Mr. Chris, who showed us the fixture above the dining table. It’s a simple chandelier that originally had a Sylvania LED bulb installed. When this bulb burned out, Mr. Chris used a standard 75W incandescent bulb that only lasted about a week before calling us to take a look. We checked the terminations of the fixture itself, as well as the connection to both of the 3-way switches that controlled the light, all connections were secure. Unfortunately there is no way to guarantee, but there may be a weak connection between the fixture wiring and the bulb socket causing the bulbs to burn out prematurely. We recommended that if the issue persists, he replaces the fixture itself. Mr. Chris mentioned he was comfortable replacing the fixture himself, if that changes he will reach out to us for assistance with a new fixture installation.

The reason for today’s visit was to take a look replacements for a kitchen light, a dining room fan, and a bathroom exhaust fan. When I arrived, I met with Mrs. Linn, who showed me the locations & the fixtures/fans to be replaced. The dining room fan and bathroom exhaust fan had already been removed, but they wanted to be sure that the wring was safe and to have a professional complete the installation due to the age of the wiring. I was able to confirm that the wiring was safe to use for the new equipment in all three locations, and that I was able to use the exhaust fan that was purchased. During my inspection, I took a look at the main electrical panel in the basement. It is a cutler-hammer from 1993, and I noticed some safety concerns. In the main panel, there is a total of ten circuits in the main electrical panel that are shared neutral/multi-wire branch circuits (supplied by individual single-pole breakers) and should be corrected to meet safety minimums. The reason for today’s visit was to provide pricing for replacement of doorbell wiring. After discussing options, customer will be deciding to go with a digital doorbell and install his own chime plug ins vs the hardwired. The customer just had his doors replaced and does not want to reopen the areas for the doorbell wiring to be ran. We also looked at a light and recommended replacement of a switch leg due to power no longer being in the box. We noticed a rip in the service cable as well. Today we performed an inspection of the home and found nothing that was showing clear signs of an issue. We did find that the 3-D printer in the basement was causing random lights in the house to pulsate. After digging into this issue a little bit we came to find that this is a known issue with certain LED lights and the way that the printers work. Due to the constant on off pulsating of voltage this can cause some lights to act up. Today we went ahead and installed a whole Home search protector in the main panel and recommend having a customer contact BG&E just to make sure that their terminations are still in good condition at the transformer.

Installation of customer supplied ceiling fan and remote for primary bedroom. Installation of new switching for the hall bathroom Installation of new carbon combo units throughout the home. This requires one per floor. Detectors have a 10 year sealed battery unit and are interconnected. The reason for today’s visit was to give pricing on replacing a ceiling fan in the master bedroom, as well as replacing a broken switch in the upstairs bathroom. Upon inspecting the home and devices, we found several broken switches and one in the master bedroom as well as another one downstairs in the basement. We also took a look at the main electrical panel which we found several issues, overheating neutrals double tap neutrals as well as multiple circuits off of one breaker. Called out today to provide solutions for installing a dedicated car charger circuit in the garage. Panel is located at the other side of the home in an unfinished basement. We would run the circuit through the unfinished basement and stub up into the garage. Some drywall damage would have to be done to run the circuit into the garage. Haas and Sons will put back any patches, but will not do any of the drywall finishing work.

For this call, I came out to provide an estimate for a dedicated 30A 240 V circuit for the customers new Heat Pump Water Heater. I pulled the circuit from the panel in the garage through the finished garage ceiling, down into a basement bulkhead and pulled over the unfinished utility closet where the appliance is to be installed. Additionally, I noticed no whole home surge protection in his panel and suggested I install one to bring the panel up to today’s current safety standards. We will install 4 6 inch recessed wafer style lights in dining room and connect them to existing switch currently powering receptacle. Additionally we will replace switch with a dimmer switch in order to adjust brightness of lights to customers desire. We will replace light fixture in family room with a customer supplied new one. Also we will install two ceiling fans located in two bedrooms on the second floor of home. With this installation we will provide constant power to ceiling fan and customer will order two ceiling fans that have remotes so that fan remotes can do the switching and no light switches are required. This will allow customer to keep current switches powering receptacles in bedrooms and won’t require adding additional switches in rooms. Lastly we will install a receptacle behind TV and bundle power cords so that they are hidden behind tv. Some work will require cutting drywall to route cable behind wall and through studs. Work completed for today’s visit : Replaced light fixture above mirror in master bathroom with new customer supplied fixture. Installed customer supplied fixture in basement hallway. Additionally we relocated the light fixture box in the small bathroom upstairs that is now centered on sink for future mirror to be installed. We replaced box with new round fixture box.

We were called out today for a dual function breaker tripping on the pool pump circuit. After investigating the circuit we came to the conclusion that the motor load was tripping the arc fault feature of the breaker. So, today we replaced the breaker with a standard 20 amp breaker, replaced the outlet for a GFCI at the pool pump, and replaced the bubble cover. We redid the silicone as well to assure no water was leaking into the outlet.

Today’s visit was to take a look at replacing three preexisting bedroom ceiling fans. When we arrived, we inspected the current fans, and verified that the switches were functioning properly. We inquired if the homeowners were interested in dimmers and/or fan speed controllers, but they were happy with the existing switches. During our assessment, we also made note of some original smoke detectors (20+ years) and suggested they be replaced. Today, the homeowners elected to just have the ceiling fans replaced. The reason for today’s visit was to provide a solution to replace the customers attic fan. Upon arrival customer noted they have not heard it running in a while so he wanted to get it looked at. We went up in the attic and noticed it was turned off. We informed the customer and turned it back on. He noted that the solar company was up there and might of turned it off. The fan was running properly and motor sounded functional. We also checked the electrical panel which was missing surge protection and had multiple multi wired branch circuits. we informed customer and provided solutions which he was not ready to move forward with at this time and might revisit it and the VIP program at a later date.

For this call, I came out to assess switching issues in multiple areas of the home. Every switch I opened up was severely damaged, cracked, switch face coming off, posing not only functional issues but safety hazards throughout the whole home. All home devices are original to home and in similar condition. Addiotnally, they are all wired with the “backstab” wiring method, the quickest way for builders to get in and out but not the most safe or sustainable wiring method. I suggest replacing every switch, receptacle, fan control , GFCI and dimmer in the home to prevent more severe issues than just not functioning properly. Installation of new 50 amp surface mounted receptacle. We will remove current outlet and rotate 90 degrees to remove the major kink inside of the appliance whip. We will then install a new Pass & Seymour surface mounted 50 amp.

Provide estimate for panel replacement and attic installation

This estimate will be for replacing a GFCI receptacle located in the basement with a new properly functioning one. Additionally we will replace all four exterior duplex receptacles with GFCI receptacles. This will allow each receptacle to provide its own GFCI protection so that customer is able to pin point exact cause of nuisance tripping as well as maintain power to the rest of the circuit even when one GFCI receptacle has tripped

Replace switch that controls garbage disposal. Called out today to investigate switch that was not working. I took out the switch leg from the disposal and bypassed the switch, and the disposal turned on. This told me that the switch was bad, and needed to be replaced. I gave a solution to replace the switch.

Provide a pricing to run three dedicated circuits for customer as well as to install whole home surge protection in the main panel.

The reason for today’s visit was to take a look at both a few basement receptacles and some basement lighting that had lost power and was not working. When I arrived, I met with the homeowner and went downstairs to check the circuit. I started checking the receptacles with my plug tester, which showed no issues and proper voltage. I ended up pulling a few of the outlets to verify that the wiring was secure, when I did so I found that the receptacles had been quick wired/backstabbed, and recommended a redevice of the circuit as the devices were original to the home (20-30 years). I also opened up the switchbank controlling the scheme by recessed lighting, half of which was still operating properly. I found that the switches were also backstabbed/quick wired and explained how the heating/cooling of the wires as the circuit is used causes loose connection of the wiring to each device over time. For this call, we came out to estimate a customer supplied hardwired ChargePoint EV Charger. Customer mentioned a potential for a rebate program and I explained the process on our end with pulling a permit and providing a load calculation to the county, with the addition of bringing the panel up to current safety minimum standards. Customer also asked for an estimate with a 30A circuit. I provided our suggested 50A circuit and his requested circuit with safety upgrades and pricing including a Permit.

For this call, we came out to assess the microwave circuit. I tested the integrity of the circuit and everything was fine. The customer stated the breaker will trip when the microwave is not being used. It was an old gen 2 br dual function breaker, which I have replace many of personally in this area. I checked the reason for the last trip and determined the breaker needed to be replaced. Customer denied the VIP Care Plan at this time. Replace (1) Gen2 Br Dual Function breaker
