The reason for today’s visit was to come out and inspect service cable that got detached from the home after the storm. Upon inspection, we noticed that the eyebolt ripped off the siding of the house, which we found that the triplex coming from the main service was too short to resecure it to a new eyebolt. We informed customer to contact BGE and make it known that it was an imminent danger situation as there was no secure point of attachment, other than a single screw, holding up the weatherhead.

Called out today to set junction box for shed feed due to sheds destruction from storm. We determined that the shed feed is insane live and on the same circuit as the washer. The customer agreed for us to seta junction box and also to apply duct seal around wire coming out of pipe to further prevent water intrusion.

The reason for today’s visit was to take a look at disconnecting pier wiring. When we arrived, we met with Mr. Glenn, who told us that he was having the entire dock & retaining wall replaced sometime in the near future. He asked us to disconnect the wiring feeding the disconnects/pier equipment and to remove the disconnects. While We were here, he also asked if it would be possible to rewire his well pump to allow it to be a plug-in setup as opposed to its current, hardwired state. I let him know that it would require GFCI protection, but I did provide a solution to do so today. In regard to the pier wiring, there are two 8/2 UF Feeders running from a 2-pole 30A breaker in the main panel, each line feeding its own disconnect. Today, we’ve disconnected & labeled each line in the main panel, removed the wiring from the pier disconnects, and removed the pier disconnects from the retaining wall. - Disconnection of Pier Wiring to safely allow for the replacement of the dock at main panel

For this job, I came out to investigate what the customers thought was an electrical odor. I checked the receptacles and wiring and the was no evidence of overheating on the conductors or the receptacles themselves. They were not evening remotely warm. I asked if there was a surge protector plugged in that fried during the storms Tuesday, customer noted there was but it was thrown out and a new one was ordered. No evidence of melted or burnt computers or power cords in the area either.

Called out today to investigate why the well pump was instantly tripping the breaker. Upon arrival, I noticed that the service cable to the main electrical panel on the outside of the home was torn. This causes water to corrode the wires inside the service cable, and will eventually lead to power loss. Opening up the main panel, I saw that the circuit that was affected was an old BX wire, leading down into the crawl space below the home. Entering the crawl space, I saw a multitude of old, rusted out BX wires. Going further into the crawlspace, I found the tripping circuit. The BX jacket had separated and had exposed the wires to the elements, causing the jackets to corrode and for bare conductors to touch other BX cabling in the crawlspace, causing a dead short. This circuit was feeding a junction box where the 10/2 wire fed power to the well pump. Due to the condition of the BX wiring under the home, measures should be taken to rewire the affected circuits to prevent anything catastro
