The space heater draws 1500W, which is 12.5 A and i is plugged in to a 15A circuit that is shared with other rooms, the breaker is functioning properly by tripping in this circumstance. Additionally, I provided (2) options to back up circuits in the home in the event of a utility power loss. First option being the installation of a Generac Manual Transfer Switch which will back up (8) specific circuits that are to be moved to the switch from the main panel. The second option is an Interlock Kit which is less invasive and provides more flexibility with choice of circuit to power during a power loss as all the circuits in the panel are to be chosen from, not just certain ones only.
