Diagnosing Power Loss
When we are called in to diagnose the loss of power to your home, whether it's the entire house or just a few outlets and fixtures, we typically take a few steps to identify the problem. We'll check the circuit breaker to see if it has tripped. If it has, we'll reset it and see if power is restored. If it keeps tripping, that indicates an overload or short circuit on the circuit. If the circuit breaker is working correctly, we may inspect all the outlets and switches in an area without power to look for any signs of damage or loose connections. We'll also check for tripped GFCI outlets. To check these outlets and switches, we'll use a voltage tester, to see if there is power present at each outlet or switch. This can help determine if the problem is just one outlet, or in multiple outlets. If our electricians suspect a wiring issue, we'll inspect the wires in the powerless area to determine if there's damage, a fixture that's faulty, or loose connections causing a short, or burn damage to the wires. We may also use a wire tracer to locate any breaks in the wiring. If those steps fail to diagnose the issue, we will test the main circuit breaker box to see if there are any issues with the breakers or wiring.
Installing Dedicated Circuits near Laurel, MD
There are a few reasons why you might want a dedicated circuit in your home. Firstly, it can help prevent overloading of the electrical system, which is a potential fire hazard. It can also reduce the risk of electrical shock by making sure that only one appliance is connected to the circuit.
Another benefit of having a dedicated circuit is that it can provide consistent power to an appliance, even if other appliances are being used at the same time. This is especially helpful for high-power appliances like air conditioners, refrigerators, hot tubs, saunas, pools, or electric water heaters.
Install or Repair Bathroom Fans
Installing or replacing a bathroom exhaust fan is a simple yet essential task that can significantly improve the air quality in your home.
The first step is to choose the appropriate size and type of fan based on the bathroom's dimensions and ventilation needs. Once we have your new fan, we'll need to turn off the power to the existing fan, remove it from the ceiling or wall, and disconnect the wiring. The new fan can then be installed, with the ductwork properly attached and secured, and the wiring reconnected. Finally, turn the power back on, and we're all set to enjoy improved ventilation and a fresher bathroom environment.
Ceiling Fan Installation or Replacement
An electrician to replace or install a ceiling fan in your living room or bedroom will ensure that the fan is safely and properly installed, following all necessary building codes and safety guidelines required near Laurel, MD. They can also provide advice on the appropriate fan size and type for your space and help with any necessary electrical upgrades. Today’s is it was for power loss at home. Once arrived, customer informed me he tried to replace the lamp post himself. When I looked at it, I saw the connections were incorrect and needed to be fixed. Once connected correctly, power came back on. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Replacing two receptacles. The first one is the reason we were called out today it is located in the garage beneath the panel. The failure of this GFCI was tripping the breaker and additionally causing loss of amperage in other receptacles along the same circuit. The second receptacle we will be replacing is the one underneath the back porch located next to the sliding glass door. In addition to changing this receptacle we will be adding a weatherproof cover to it to ensure no water will corrode the receptacle.
Installation of new door bell transformer located under neath stair set in basement utility closet. Previous technicians work inside of panel did not affect location or integrity of current bad transformer. Transformer was dated May of 1991 and did not have power currently. Installation of new chime box and removal of old splices for chime. All has been updated and works currently with new Nest settings.
The reason for today’s visit with the customer is a spa-pack that she would like to have installed by her outside equipment for the pool. After being introduced the customer showed me the panel location and the area she would like to have the pack installed. After looking at the panel i saw a 00’s Cutler Hammer CH panel with a few panel violations such as double tapped neutrals and double fed breakers. The panel was at capacity and would need to be corrected in terms of double taps in order to install the new spa pack customer is inquiring about. The customer and I talked about possibilities of running the new circuit and i came up with running through the ceiling trenching the sheet rock to ensure proper installation for the spa-pack. After looking at both areas, i went through the home and tested outlets and devices to ensure properly working. I then brought my findings to the customer and stated i would create a few estimates on the things we discussed today. I approached the custom
