Case Study: Ellicott City Electrical Repair and Restoration After Water Damage
This service call involved addressing significant electrical damage caused by a burst pipe in a resident's garage. Upon arrival, the homeowner explained that a frozen pipe had burst, and the water had traveled through the garage, damaging several electrical components along the way.
Our technician assessed the situation and found that the water had severely damaged the light and garage door opener outlets. The wiring in the affected areas was compromised, and the circuit needed to be extended. We began by carefully cutting back the damaged wiring and restapling any sections that were accessible and unaffected by the water.
To restore proper functionality and safety, the following steps were taken:
- Removed the water-damaged receptacle, keyless fixture, and electrical boxes.
- Cut the wiring back to a point where it was still intact and unaffected by the water damage.
- Installed a new single-gang nail-on box for the garage door opener outlet and replaced the damaged receptacle with a new TR receptacle.
- Replaced the old nail-on 8B box, installing a new one where the wiring was unaffected by the water, and wired in a new keyless fixture.
- Upgraded the garage circuit by installing a Cutler Hammer GFCI/AFCI combo breaker for proper safety coverage.
With the new wiring in place and the circuit properly protected, the garage's electrical system was restored to full functionality, ensuring safety and reliable power moving forward. This case highlights the importance of addressing water damage quickly to avoid further issues with the electrical system.
Case Study: Home Lighting and Ceiling Fan Upgrades for an Ellicott City Home
This electrical upgrade project in a local city focused on enhancing both the lighting and ceiling fans throughout the home. The homeowner wanted to modernize their living spaces with recessed lighting, improve the functionality of ceiling fans, and make a few adjustments to optimize room layouts.
Our technician began by addressing the lighting needs. In both the living room and family room, we installed six new recessed lights in each area. The switch-controlled outlets in both rooms were converted to constant hot, and the recessed lights were wired to new dimmer switches, allowing the homeowner to control the ambiance and light intensity in each space.
In the bedrooms, the project included the following ceiling fan upgrades:
- The ceiling fan in the master bedroom was removed and replaced with a new customer-supplied, ceiling fan.
- Similarly, the ceiling fan in the first upstairs bedroom was removed and replaced with a new customer-supplied ceiling fan.
- The second upstairs bedroom also had its ceiling fan replaced with a new customer-supplied model. Additionally, the fan was moved two feet to the center of the room for better alignment and air circulation.
- Finally, a new ceiling fan was installed in the hallway room, which was wired from the attic and controlled by a switch. The homeowner provided the new ceiling fan, and we handled all the necessary wiring to ensure safe and efficient operation.
This project was a comprehensive upgrade that brought improved lighting control and comfort to the entire home. It reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality electrical solutions that enhance both functionality and style.
Case Study: Electrical Repairs and Upgrades in a Kitchen in Ellicott City
This electrical service call focused on resolving issues with the wiring for a garbage disposal and kitchen recessed lights. The homeowner had been experiencing ongoing issues with the garbage disposal tripping the breaker, as well as concerns about the functionality of the kitchen’s recessed lighting.
Our technician first addressed the wiring problem at the garbage disposal switch. After making the necessary repairs, we also relocated the customer-supplied dimmer switch to improve accessibility and functionality.
Despite these fixes, if the garbage disposal continues to trip the breaker, we recommended replacing the existing breaker and having the disposal inspected by a qualified technician. This would ensure that the issue is fully resolved and that the system is functioning safely.
Additionally, we performed a thorough check on the wiring for the kitchen’s recessed lights to ensure everything was properly connected and up to code. With the repairs completed and recommendations in place, the homeowner’s kitchen electrical system was restored to optimal performance.
This case highlights our dedication to providing tailored solutions and ensuring that every part of the home’s electrical system is safe and functional.

Reason for today’s visit with the customer was quoting multiple projects. The main project was running a 50 AMP Line for the new hard range. The additional project was correcting the outdoor receptacles. The breaker for the outdoor GFCI’s was dead shorting when fully attached. When the back half of the line was disconnected from the underground splice it held fine. The problem is likely originating from the UF running under the patio into the yard however it’s hard to determine exactly where due to it being covered. The kitchen circuit will have to be drilled down into the basement then ran through the bulk head then across the basement kitchen then up into the kitchen. I will consult with the master electrician on Monday and work up quotes for the work.

Arrived onsite, got buzzed into the building and went up to the unit and they showed me the living room where the ceiling fan was prewired , and then we looked at the ceiling fan itself. It was a non UL listed Chinese ceiling fan, and they also didn’t have the 4 ft downrod required for the ceiling clearance for this particular setup. I sat down and helped her pick it all out on Amazon and got a hunter one with a proper downrod, but she wants to get a quote from her handyman first and see what he says so i will send over our price to install it, given the fan and downrod are onsite at that time. I collected the service charge and then we headed out.

Reason for today’s visit with the customer was to quote installation of a dedicated circuit and inspecting the panel. Upon inspection of a panel I discovered it is extremely outdated. While there are not many circuits in the panel it is extremely old and has rust inside of it. The exterior service cable is in dire need of replacing as neutral strands are showing through the rotted jacket. There is no cold water ground either inside the home. The customer needs a 60 AMP Circuit run across the basement into the utility room where it will be landed for the new converter. Unfortunately due to the panels age, condition of the service cable, and demand on the service once the new circuit is installed we are recommending replacing the service and panel before installing the new circuit. At this time customer decided to not move forward and requested to get other quotes before deciding.
Very knowledgeable, extremely thorough and pleasure to work with

We have delivered pricing regarding the attic fan motor replacement.

Arrived onsite and the resident showed me to his doorbell which when he tried to install it shorted out the wiring in the wall and killed the transformer. I was able to test the doorbell wiring and the transformer for the system and it had no voltage. We went down in the basement and found and confirmed that transformer was giving off no voltage, and then we preformed our assessment as well. The house had no bonding in it, had a bad combo breaker, and was also missing surge protection. I wrote up all the options and he decided he wanted to wait on the surge protection today but get everything else done that i was recommending, so that’s what we did. I removed the old doorbell and pulled the wiring out, taped it up carefully and hooked it up and mounted the ring doorbell. I had Tyler install the transformer and told him where to land it in terms of the voltage range. While down there he took care of bonding while i swapped out the bad breaker. We came back up and the resident scanned t
