Though you can technically install an outlet yourself, it is strongly recommended that you have a licensed electrician perform the work instead. There are a number of reasons for this, including:
- If an outlet is not installed correctly, it could fail a code inspection
- An improperly done outlet might cause electric shock or fire. If officials determine that a fire was started by inadequate work performed by the homeowner, the homeowner’s insurance can technically deny coverage for any of the damage caused by the faulty outlet.
- An electrician will not only be able to install the outlet correctly, they can ensure it is working properly after installation and within the boundaries of the circuit breaker.
For comprehensive electrical outlet services, contact the experts at Haas & Sons today!
To wire an outlet in a new location will take an electrician several hours to complete. If an electrician is simply replacing an outlet in an existing location, it will be a much quicker job.
The cost of installing a new outlet will range between $300+. Some things that could affect this price include:
- Is there aluminum wiring?
- Is the wiring burnt?
- Is the wiring old and needs special precautions taken?
- Does the homeowner need to upgrade to a different type of outlet?

Repair driveway light Reason for today’s visit was to check a driveway light that was not working. Customer has lantern style pathway lights that run down the driveway that are 120 V the second one on the right when entering the driveway was not working. I tested power and found that there was no power inside the socket of the light. I removed the cab from where the light was connected to the ground post and found that the wire had broken inside of there. I cut off the bad ends of the wire and reconnected and light is not working properly. Well, on site, I noticed another light at the edge of the driveway where it meets the house was slightly flickering. I opened up this light and put on new wire nuts and fix the spices and light is now working fine.

Reason for today’s visit was to assess power loss to the exterior receptacles, as well as to check power loss to a fixture in the primary bedroom. Upon first inspection, we noticed all the exterior plugs were off and found that there was a GFCI in the utility closet just inside the garage. The GFCI was in the office position so we reset it. Customer stated that when she went to plug in some lights that were hanging outside it turned the power off. I was able to determine that there must’ve been water inside the lighting that was hanging outside from the recent storms that caused a GFCI trip. Now that the lights are dried out, the lights are not working. The second issue with the light in the primary bedroom was the fact that someone had dropped a bowling ball in the ceiling on the floor above where the light is located. This has caused the college of bulbs that were in the light fixtures all burn out. Customer stated they were going to replace this light contact us once they purchased

Install NEMA 6-50 receptacle

Today’s visit was for smoke detectors beeping and going off in the middle of the night. Customer has very sensitive hearing and bad nerves. Needed them to be replaced immediately. They were over 10 years old anyway. We replaced for smoke detectors and three combo smoke detectors.

Arrived onsite and met with Caleb where he showed me pedastool 38 on the back side of the campground, and upon opening it up it only had 84 volts on the one line coming in, and 120v on the other. Everything but the one leg reading 84 was ok. We began by finding the initial shutoff for that row which lied behind the main office, turned it off and i began opening different junctions they showed me to check all the splices from the power source, the pedastool. After some time , i found that the power break is between pedastool 39, where the line for 38 comes out of and then it’s the end of the line. With maybe 40 feet between them, and them being ran with water lines and other things underground troubleshooting isnt going to be a good option, but refeeding it will be. I talked to Caleb about running a new wire from pedastool 38-39 and that we would write up an estimate and have it sent over sooner then later. For now, i closed up all the electrical boxes and just made everything safe.

Haas is a great company and very professional. I called in an emergency 2 days before Christmas and the owner himself answered the phone and was extremely helpful. His calm, kind, demeanor helped me to feel at ease in a tense situation. He got someone to my house within an hour and a half! Matt, our electrician, was extremely personable and knowledgeable as well. He handled the situation and gave us great advice moving forward. We will definitely use Haas for our future electrical needs! Elizabeth
